He was predeceased by: his parents, James Franklin Elam, Sr. and Catherine Virginia Frank Elam; his brother Stuart Elam; and his grandson Justin Elam. He is survived by: his wife Carey Jo McConnell Elam; his sons, James "Kent" Elam of Marion, NC, Loy "Brian" Elam (Tina) of Siloam, NC and Curtis Timothy Elam of Mount Pleasant, NC; his brother Bill White of Gastonia, NC; and his grandchildren, Benjamin Elam of Marion, NC and Sydney Elam of Atlanta.
