He was predeceased by: his parents, Edsel Buckner and Marie Haynes Buckner; and his brother William Roger Buckner. He is survived by: his wife Sandy Alexander Buckner; his children, Jamie Leyva (Daniel), Ashley Boykin (Brian) and Brandon Buckner; his grandchildren, Cadence Boykin, Delilah Boykin and Evelyn; and his sister-in-law Erika Love Buckner.
A burial was held on Wednesday, March 5th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery (962 Old US Hwy 70, Black Mountain, NC 28711). A celebration of life was held on Wednesday, March 5th 2025 from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the Home of Jamie Leyva (22 Stone River Dr, Woodfin, NC 28804).
