It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Evelyn Louise O'Neal of Black Mountain, North Carolina, who passed away on November 3, 2024, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Carver and Rachel Allen Carver; and her siblings, Ray Ashby Carver and Eleanor Lorraine Love. She is survived by: her daughters, Peggy Hicks (Allen) of Morganton, NC and Patricia Melvin of Black Mountain, NC; and her grandchildren, Corey Hicks of Morganton, NC, Travis Hicks (Laura) of Marion, NC, Christopher Snyder (Jennifer) of Marion, NC, Jared Snyder (Jessica Sherouse) of DeLand, FL, Joseph Snyder (Stephanie) of Black Mountain, NC, Shea Melvin (Keiko) of Japan, Sile Bray (Jason) of Swannanoa, NC, Micaela Melvin (Josh Chiles) of Canton, NC and Bethany Melvin of Black Mountain, NC. She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Penland Family Funeral Home (125 South Ave, Swannanoa, NC 28778). A funeral service was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 at the Mountain View Memorial Park (413 Cragmont Rd, Black Mountain, NC 28711).
