He was predeceased by: his parents, Carmen Carroll Wright and Eva May Jones Wright; his wife Helen Howell Wright; his grandson Cameron Mitchell; and his great grandchild Aiden Phillips.
He is survived by: his children, Renee W. Whisenant (Steve), Randy Wright (Jodi) and Ricky Wright (Angie); his grandchildren, Jessica Wright (Matt Phillips), Lauren Imboden (Matt), Jamie Wright (Jacob Souther), Tyler Whisenant (Kelli), Tiffany McKinney (Derek), Cody Ledford, Elaina Mahan and Joshua Ledford; his brothers, Frank Wright and Michael Wright; and his close friend Virginia Mace.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, January 23rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery (962 Old US Hwy 70, Black Mountain, NC 28711). Visitation was held on Thursday, January 23rd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the Beam Funeral Service & Crematory (2170 Rutherford Rd, Marion, NC 28752).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Valor Hospice at the VA Medical Center, Clinchfield Baptist Church, Shriner's of Greenville, SC, or the Ronald McDonald House of Durham, NC.
