He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy Barnes Thorne; his parents, David C. Thorne and Ethel Lewis Thorne; his son Charles Ray Thorne; his siblings, Barbara Davis, Mary Joyner, George Thorne and Tom Thorne; and his pet Peanut.
He is survived by: his children, Teresa Williams (Wayne) of Black Creek, James Thorne (Donna) of Four Oaks and Kenny Thorne (Crystal) of Black Creek; his grandchildren, Heather Gates, Tiffany Williams, Blake Williams, Alisha Taylor, Beverly Peedin, Jamie VanOppen, David Thorne, Tyler Thorne and Travis Thorne; and his siblings, Jenny Evans (Donnie) of Sims, Faye Denton of Wilson, Joe Thorne of Black Creek and Jesse Thorne (Sue) of Sims. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
