She was predeceased by: her husband Edward Rayburn Lanier; and her brother Ray Carroll Smith. She is survived by: her children, Mary Anna Lee of Beulaville and Ed Lanier of Beulaville; her grandchildren, Corey Lee, Hannah Lee and Nate Lee; and her great grandchildren, Cammie Lee and Casen Newburn.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 2nd 2024 at 10:00 AM at the East Duplin Memorial Gardens (2192 NC-24, Beulaville, NC 28518).

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Beulaville Baptist Church, P. O. Box 394 Beulaville, NC 28518.

“I've been a friend of Jan and Rayburn Lanier since 1966, while serving as a Navy medic with the 6th Marines at Camp Lejeune. One of my Navy buddies introduced me to the Lanier family and I visited their home several times, enjoying their southern hospitality. We never met again in person, but when my enlistment ended in 1967, we managed to stay in touch by telephone and correspondence for nearly 60 years. I will always remember and treasure our long-distance relationship.”
