With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Effie Houston Avery of Beulaville, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 6, 2025 at the age of 91. In the sacred silence of farewell, Effie Houston is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that her light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of her loved ones. And as her memory is carried forward, may comfort be found in the knowledge that love is eternal, and that Effie Houston's spirit lives on in the beauty that surrounds us.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Ingram Houston and Laura Lee Houston; and her siblings, Myrtle Marie Houston and Martin Houston. She is survived by: her brother Stacy Houston (Judy) of Stedman, NC.; her children, Mike Avery of Potters Hill, NC and Wenonah Bexell (Kevin) of Jacksonville, NC.; her grandson Michael Avery (Donna) of Potters Hill, NC.; her great grandchildren, Dylan Smith, Luke Smith and Connor Rhoades; and her daughter Doris Smith.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the Community Funeral Home (840 W Main St, Beulaville, NC 28518). A graveside service was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Oak Ridge Memorial Park (985 NC-11, Pink Hill, NC 28572).
