We bid farewell to Evelyn Griggs Key (Bethel, North Carolina), whose journey of life gracefully concluded on January 17, 2025 at the age of 65. Evelyn Griggs touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Sammy Griggs and Ida Mae Griggs of Bethel; her siblings, Alton, James Griggs and Shirley Griggs; and her siblings-in-law, Michael Key and Belinda Blackshear.

She is survived by: her significant other Anthony Key; her children, Kristin, Sydney and Jordan Key; her siblings, Louise Butler (late George), Marjorie Powell (William), Barbara Griggs (Tony), Joyce Griggs, Jackie Brigman, Samuel Griggs (Pat) and Larry Griggs (Gail); and her in-laws, Beverly Gibbons (Peter), Sammy Key Jr., Timothy Key (Martha), LeeAnne Taylor and Carlos Key.

A celebration of life was held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Delight Church of God (593 US-64 ALT, Bethel, NC 27812).

During her time with the government, she received numerous awards for her contributions to designing aircraft carriers, including the third-highest award for civilians, the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award.
