He was predeceased by: his parents, James Melvin Gooch and Mary Elizabeth Tew (Peggy); his wife Mary Sue Gooch; and his sister Betty Luper. He is survived by: his sons, Michael Eric Gooch (Shannon Styron) and James Curtis Gooch (Pamela Kristin Gooch); the mother of his children Mary Catherine Gooch; his stepdaughters, Donna Warren and Virginia Bland; his grandchildren, Sydney Alexis Gooch, Makayla Faith Gooch, Colton James Styron Gooch, James Maxton Gooch, Nick Carpenter, Chloe Carpenter, Karen Warren and Miranda Warren; his great grandchildren, Kailey Warren and Beau-Michael Joyce; his siblings, Carolyn Gooch, Brian Gooch Sr. (Debbie Cooper Gooch) and Raye Gooch Sr. (Bobbi Jean Rickman); and his friends, Alex Frankenthal, Russel Whitten and Micheal Ostic. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
