It is with great sadness that we announce the death of William Richard Costner of Bessemer City, North Carolina, born in Gaston, North Carolina, who passed away on January 14, 2021, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, Russell "Runt" Costner and Beatrice "Bea" Costner; his wife Faye "Tooger" Steelman Costner; and his granddaughter Beverly Dills. He is survived by : his children, Cheri Shull (Steve), Kimberly McBee (Frank) and Gregory Costner; his sisters, Sandra Conrad (James) and Sue Ann Payne (Mike); his grandchildren, Amy Dills, Travis Shull and Dustin McBee; his great grandchild Tyler Bess (Ally); and his great great grandchild Paisley-Faye Bess.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hardin Community Baptist Church.
