With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Vanessa Summey Payne of Bessemer City, North Carolina, born in Gaston, North Carolina, who passed away on December 1, 2022 at the age of 69. She was predeceased by: her parents, John Luther Buchanan and Fannie Mae Parker Buchanan; her husband Charlie Summey; and her brother Bruce Buchanan. She is survived by: her children, Billy Summey (Mandy) and Amy Summey; her stepdaughter Rhonda Summey Ham; and her siblings, Dale Buchanan (Patricia), Clinton Buchanan, Howard Buchanan and Debbie Summey. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren.
