He was predeceased by: his parents, Georgia Carter and Hugh Carter; and his wife Hattie Freeman Carter. He is survived by: his son Kenneth Matthew Carter; his stepson Horace Tidwell (Shirley); and his sister Sherleen G. Williams. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
