He was predeceased by: his parents, Reid Whidden and Edith Tipton Whidden; his son David Franklin; and his great grandchild Kaydon Brooks. He is survived by: his daughters, Carol Millwood (Chad), Jennifer Buchanan and Lisa Whidden; his sister Cynthia Ruff; and his grandchildren, Sheldon, Brittany, Jacob, Kasey, Ashley, Dalton, Johnathan, Joseph, Lainee and Gaige.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Testa Family Hospice House, 321 Kings Mountain Blvd., Kings Mountain, NC 28086.
