It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Mary Hook (Bessemer City, North Carolina), born in Gaston, North Carolina, who passed away on June 27, 2019, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Dempsey Aubrey and Anna Martha Jane Fortner; her husband George Allen Hook, Jr.; her daughter Marilyn Hook Best; her son-in-law Alfred W. "Al" Best; and her siblings, Dewey Edgar Fortner, Bonnie Levada Howie, Pansy Greene Cashion, Thomas Jefferson Fortner, John Hayden Fortner, William Henry Fortner, James Maxwell Fortner, Ida Mae Joy, Dempsey Leroy Fortner, Melvin Sylvester Fortner and Donald Richard Fortner.

She is survived by: her sons, Dr. George Hook (Linda) of Rock Hill, SC and David Hook (Susan) of Bessemer City; her grandchildren, Shannon Foley (Seth Hook), Kyle Hook (Missy Foley), Gretchen Krenzel (Brian), Page Stocks (Adam Hook) and Alex Hook; her great grandchildren, Corbin, Garrett, Chandler Williams, Bailey, Mallory, Darby, Jensen Hook, Sydney Foley, Zane, Scarlett, Isla Krenzel, Aubrey and Aedan Wren Stocks; and her great great grandchild Lila Gray Williams.
