He is survived by: his wife Linda Hutchins Scates; his daughter Candise Scates Reynolds (Sidney); his granddaughters, Brooke Wilson (Owen), Ashley McAbee and Kylie Reynolds; his brother Ronnie Scates; his nieces, Lisa Jackson and Jennifer Smith; his nephew Shane Scates; his brother Steve Smith; his sister-in-law Pat Smith; and his friends, Steve Young and Janie Young.
