He was predeceased by: his parents, Gus T Long and Betty Jane Sutton Long; his wife Sherry Lee Haskin Long; and his siblings, Inie Wright, Lola Bryson, Dorothy Perry, Leny Ellis, Louise Holland, William Long, Henry C Long, Joseph Long and Franklin D Long.
He is survived by: his children, James R. Long, Jr., Sharon Burton (Beauford), Billy "Charles" Roland and Tracy Conner; his grandchildren, James Robert Long, III, Sierra Burkett and Courtney Burkett; his great grandchild Caleb Long; and his niece Jeanette Long. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
