He is survived by: his wife Lillie Murray Costner; his children, Dennis Costner (Kathy) and Linda Costner Thomas (Terry); his sister Lena Freeman; his grandchildren, Bobby Costner (Julie), Scotty Costner (Audrey), Regina Crayton (Lance), Michael Costner, Todd Thomas, Brent Thomas, Kelly Thomas and Paula Costner; his great grandchildren, Kelsey Costner, Adison Costner, Emily Costner, Leanna Crayton, Emily Crayton, Gavin Thomas, Kylie Thomas and Caleb Costner; and his great great grandchildren, Jaxson and Dominick Thomas. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
