He was predeceased by: his parents, Clint Andrew Jones and Bessie Pack Jones Holland; his former wife Hazel Holland Jones; his son Jeffrey Dean Jones; and his siblings, J. C. Jones (Lillian), Al Jones, Arthur Jones, Rosie Robertson, Jennie Rae Shull and Katie Delahay.
He is survived by: his wife Lottie Ann Smith Jones; his children, Howard "Sonny" Jones, Jr. (Tejal), Bobbie Jean Nix (Ken), Amanda, Samantha, Jackie and Chuck Smith; his grandchildren, Travis Jones (April), Scott Jones (Katy), Benjamin Nix (Aundrea), Taylor Histed (Brian), Russell Smith (Amber), Anna and Lydia Beaver; his great grandchildren, Ashley Jones (Stacy), LeeAnn Wiggins (Ethan), Samuel, Tyler, Jake Jones, Lena, Lorelai Smith, Alyssa and Aliyah Haynes; and his great great grandchild Amelia Faye Wiggins. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Whetstone Masonic Lodge #515 in honor of the Masonic Children's Home and/or First United Methodist Church, Bessemer City N.C.
