With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Doris Shirley of Bessemer City, North Carolina, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. She was predeceased by: her parents, Jack Calvin Chesney and Gladys "Lena" Riddle Chesney. She is survived by: her husband Dexter Shirley; her sons, Scott Shirley (Carly) of Bessemer City and Ronald Hammonds (Sandy) of Gastonia; her grandchildren, Ragan, Camryn Shirley, Corey Hammonds (Aislinn) and Dustin Hammonds (Leilani); her siblings, Sheila Chesney, Pat Stamey, Terry Chesney of Gastonia and Rickey Chesney of Gastonia; her great grandchildren, Ander and Wylla Hammonds; and her pet Toby. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 21st 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM at the Mt. Beulah Baptist Church (5306 Dallas Cherryville Hwy, Bessemer City, NC 28016). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 21st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
