He was predeceased by: his parents, Laura Ratchford (Best) and Charles Price Ratchford; his wife Bertie "Jean" Ratchford; and his siblings, Elizabeth Ratchford, Lillie Mae Ratchford, Clarence Ratchford (Edo), Don Ratchford (Mabel), Charles Ratchford (Ruth) and Paul Ratchford (Shirley).

He is survived by: his daughter-in-law Cindy Ratchford; his sons, Claude Ratchford, Jr. (Beth) and David Ratchford (Juana Ferreyra); and also, Chad, Charlie, Sam, Dennis Ratchford (Ashley), Avery, Jackson, Nicholas Ratchford (Julie), Abigail, Matthew and Shonna Ratchford.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made in Claude's name to Antioch Lutheran Church Cemetery, Garden of Peace, 330 Old NC 277 Loop Road, Dallas, NC 28034.
