He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, James Carl Powers, Sr. and Louise Cox Powers; and his siblings, Joan W. Powers, James "Jim" Carl Powers, Jr. (Frances), Kathy L. Caudle, Jeffrey P. Powers (LaDonna) and Malcolm J. Powers. He was also cherished by nine nieces and nephews; numerous grand nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews.
