He was predeceased by: his parents, David Henry and Laura Suitt Massey. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Pope Massey; his children, Janice, Pope McLamb, Wayne, Jeffrey Pope, Lorrie, Jacona Pope Hester, Paul and Kimberly Massey Russell; his grandchildren, Rex Pope, Adam Hester, Ashton Hester Burnette (Liz), Alex Hester (Adam) and River Russell; his great grandchildren, Leah Hester, Sarah and Eli; his siblings, Tracy Massey, Johnny Massey (Rose) and Nancy Stuart (Carleen); and his sister-in-law Betsy Massey (Allen).
