It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Josephine Cobb Rains of Benson, North Carolina, who passed away on November 3, 2024, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. As Josephine Cobb departs from our midst, her spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Josephine Cobb. Though Josephine Cobb may no longer walk beside us, her legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Owen Wilbert and Ione Hardee Cobb; her former husband Charles Blackman; and also, John Rains, John A. Blackman, Kathleen Sawyer, Barbara Hardison and Bonnie Cannon.
She is survived by: her sons, Tony Blackman of Four Oaks and Michael Blackman (Marsha) of Angier. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, November 7th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Harnett Devotional Gardens (5665 Fairground Rd, Dunn, NC 28334).
