He was predeceased by: his brothers, Bob Montgomery and Bill Montgomery. He is survived by: his wife Betty Lynne Prevatte Montgomery; his children, James "Jimmy" E. Montgomery, Jr. (Melissa), Beth Williamson Mitchell and Amanda Miller; his grandchildren, Nelson, Lillie Mitchell, Kaleb Dudley and Willow Harrell; and his brother Paul Montgomery.
