He was predeceased by: his parents, William Charles and Mary Lois Tart Ryals; and his siblings, Jo Ann Ryals Moore and John Robert Ryals, Sr.. He is survived by: his wife Pam N. Ryals; his children, Charles Kevin Ryals of Benson, Kelly Lynn Ryals (Susan) of Benson, Leah R. McLamb (Eric) of Benson and Sarah R. Lassiter (Sam) of Four Oaks; and his grandchildren, Katie Eatman (Austin), Christopher Ryals (Hannah), Savannah Ryals, Brooke Ryals (Julia), Logan Ryals, Carson Ryals, Laynah McLamb, Sklyar McLamb, Annie Lassiter and Charlotte Lassiter. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
