He was predeceased by: his wife Betty Jean Wilson Purvis; his parents, William Purvis and Addie Kidd Purvis; his son Steve Purvis; and his siblings, Vernon Purvis and Pauline Williams.
He is survived by: his children, Sharon Scott (Charles) of High Falls and Greg Purvis of Emerald Isle; his grandchildren, Matthew Scott, Stacey, Jenna Maness, Brad, Will Purvis, Halle Purvis, Kelly Daniel, Trey, Emily Parker, Michael Purvis and Cathy; his great grandchildren, Tyler Scott and Courtney Burton; and his daughters-in-law, Beverly Purvis and Melanie Purvis (Carol Thomas).
