He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Albright Oates; his children, Todd Oates (Pam) of Bennett, Chad Oates (Jill) of Siler City, Kelly Wilson (Danny) of High Point and David Saunders (Jamie) of Ramseur; and his brothers, Bill Oates of Bennett, Tim Oates (Cheryl) of Mebane and Ricky Oates of Bennett.
