With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Peggy Jane Cooke Bailey Powers of Bennett, North Carolina, born in Carthage, North Carolina, who passed away on February 9, 2021 at the age of 83. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Phebie Tilley and Joseph Everett Cook; her siblings, J. E. "Buck" Cook and Deborah Cook; and her former husband Harold Perry Bailey.
She is survived by: her children, Laura Avery (late Walton) of Chapel Hill and Perry Bailey (Connie) of Carthage; her granddaughters, Divinity Bailey (Andy) of Charlotte, Claire Avery (Blake) of Austin and Felicity Bailey Cole (Jonathan) of Carthage; her husband C. Edison Powers of Bennett; and her pet Skipper.
Graveside service will be private due to COVID restrictions and will be held at Union Presbyterian Church, where Peggy was a member.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Peggy's memory may be made to Union Presbyterian Church, The Alzheimer's Association or the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina.
