He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Nicodemus and Marie Alexander Nicodemus; and his wife Peggy Benfield Nicodemus. He is survived by: his children, Julie Clendenin (Steve) of Bennett, Kathy Bodien (Tim) of Whispering Pines, Pat Nicodemus (Christy) of Seagrove, John Nicodemus, Jr. (Susie) of Asheboro and Cheryl Becker (Jay) of Laurinburg; and his siblings, Shirley Gray (Bob) of Ohio and Larry Nicodemus (Pat) of Florida.
