He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Ray Sr. and Iris Adams Lanier. He is survived by: his wife Linda Edwards Lanier; his sister LaRue L. Kinney of Asheboro; and his half-brother Ted Lanier of Sophia. He is also survived by three nieces and three nephews.
