He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Stacey Brown and Ethel Mae Cox Brown; his siblings, Glenn, Bill, Larry Brown, Catherine B. Binkley, Velma B. Welch and Ruby B. Branson; and his granddaughter McKenna Jessup.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Ferree Brown; his children, Penny Brown of Bennett, Gina Sloan (Stephen) of Sanford and Todd Brown (Ginger) of Bennett; his goddaughter Bobbie Ritter (Wesley) of Ramseur; his siblings, Irene B. McNeill of Coleridge, Brenda B. Albright of Siler City, Linda B. Brown of Coleridge and Ronnie Brown (Patsy) of Bennett; his grandchildren, Mandy Griffin, D. J. Allen (Amber), Austin Moon, Justin Batchelor (Staci), MacKayla Beal (Casey), Gracie Brown (Aaron Keyes) and Haven Jessup; and his great grandchildren, Carson, Chloe, Jack Mitchell, Ashton, Raelynn, Wade and Hudson.
