He was predeceased by: his parents, John Ervin and Rehem Dail Chappell; his wife Christine Winslow Chappell; his sisters, Lessie Benton Hobbs and Lois Hobbs; and his grandsons, Grant Phillip and Mark Allen Chappell.
He is survived by: his children, Gail Roberson (Edgar) of Hertford, Lou Ann Winslow (Stan) of Belvidere, Wade Chappell of Belvidere and Jeffrey Chappell of Belvidere; his siblings, Lillie Rae Askew of Eure, Paige Stallings of Belvidere, Bertha Gay Talbot of Louisville, MS, Janice Wood of Edenton, John Wesley Chappell of Virginia Beach, VA and J. H. Chappell of Edenton; his grandchildren, Jonathan Chappell, Kayla McClary, Matt Winslow (Amanda), Ashley Jethro (David), Austin Winslow (Lacey), Kristie Thach, Mindy Holmes and Justin Roberson (Meagan); his great grandchildren, Marcus, Lilley, Wesley, Wyatt, Caden, Colt, Eliza Grace, Hudson, Madelyn, Kathryn, Kolby, Tanner, Maddux, Peyton, Reid and Ty; and his great great grandchildren, Brent and Aubrey.
