He was predeceased by: his parents, William Lacy McCumbee and Susan Hopkins McCumbee; his wife Ava Lee Nations McCumbee; his daughter Elaine McCumbee; and his sister Louise Gates.

He is survived by: his children, Glenda McCumbee (Karen Price) and Hal McCumbee (Terri); and his grandchildren, Michael McCumbee (Emily) and Jordan McCumbee (Caroline). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
