It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lester Burl Hawes of Belmont, North Carolina, who passed away on July 8, 2023, at the age of 55, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Burl Hawes and Violet Hawes; and his sister Susan Hawes. He is survived by: his wife Leah Ewing Hawes; his sons, Robert Hawes (Erica) of Mt. Holly, Jason Hawes (Abby) of Belmont and Bailey Hawes of Belmont; his grandson Brody Hawes; his siblings, Rosemary Ocana of Gastonia, Nancy Drury (Bill) of Burton, MI. and Fred Hawes (Gena) of Clover, SC; his parents-in-law, Doug and Ann Ewing; and his sister-in-law Laura Ewing. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
