He was predeceased by: his father Deacon Edward; and his wife Diana Burrus. He is survived by: his sister Mildred Burrus; his children, Rondrequal McCloud of Pantego, NC, George Burrus Jr. of Greenville, NC and Georgette Burrus of Belhaven, NC.; and his siblings, Edvita Moore (Kenneth), Cheryl Burrus, Jerry Burrus (Sarah), Phyllis Gordan (Howard), Gruver Burrus (Glenda), Terry Burrus, Samuel Dudley, Janet Palmer, Celestine Simpson and Denise Dudley. He is also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the St. James Church of Christ (358 W Old County Rd, Belhaven, NC 27810). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at the Northside Cemetery (500-670 Lee St, Belhaven, NC 27810).
