She was predeceased by: her parents, George Bessent and Minnie Bessent; her husband Aaron Thomas Bowen; her son Thomas Howard Bowen; and her sister Carol Hayman.
She is survived by: her children, Kathryn B. Reed (Jim) of Washington, Chris L. Bowen (Margo) of Chapel Hill and Bobby Bowen of Taylorsville. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren.
