She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Locklear and Mary Locklear; her husband Joseph A. Powell; her daughter Deborah Ann Locklear; and her grandchildren, James A. Oglesby and Sabrina Jane Powell.
She is survived by: her children, Diane Hughes (Patrick) of Hope Mills, Larry Dean Powell of Beaufort, Joseph "Jody" P. Powell (Dawn) of Beaufort and Tonya J. Powell of Beaufort; her grandchildren, Charity, Alex, Ryan, Chris and Katelyn; and her sister Virginia Locklear (James) of Baltimore. She is also survived by 11 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
