He was predeceased by: his parents, John Nelson Duncan and Dorothy Sloan Allen Duncan; his wife Jean Leigh Cash Duncan; and his daughter Jean Leigh Duncan. He is survived by: his children, John Nelson Duncan III (Melanie) of Beaufort, Martha Moore Duncan Harrison (Arthur) of Beaufort and Hillman Cash Duncan (Kate) of Raleigh; his grandchildren, John Nelson Duncan IV, Joseph Leigh Duncan, Caroline Leigh Harrison, Catherine Sloan Harrison, Hillman Cash Duncan Jr. and Colby Nicks Duncan; and his sister Martha Duncan Everett of Texas.
