She was predeceased by: her parents, William Roy and Myrtle Godley Elks; her husband Rufus Smith; her brothers, Eddie Louis Elks and William Roy Elks, Jr.; and her sons-in-law, William H Jones and Clyde L Brown.
She is survived by: her children, Carolyn Smith Brown of Chocowinity, Sue McKinney (Rex) of Chocowinity, Rufus "Dalton" Smith, Jr. of Chocowinity, Donnie Smith (Brinda) of Chocowinity and Gary Smith (Becky) of Purlear, NC; her grandchildren, Tiffany Harlow, Bridgitte Harrell, Natalie Mason, Trey Smith, Lizanne Godley, Marsha Clark, Michelle Hullender, Donna Bradbury, Erin King, Stacey McKinney, Stephen Smith, Jonathan Smith and Lindsey Ivey; her sister Linda Roebuck of Greenville; and her sister-in-law Betty Jean Elks of Chocowinity. She is also survived by 24 great grandchildren.
Because of her special love for flowers, they will be accepted and memorials may be made to Hodges Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church, 2564 Carrow Taylor Road, Chocowinity, NC 27817.
