He was predeceased by: his wife Doris Murphy; his parents, Robert Murphy and Myrtle Murphy; and his siblings, Robert "Bob" Murphy, Charles Ray Murphy and Rosemary Padgett.
He is survived by: his daughter Donna (Curtis Hickman) of Morehead City, NC; and his grandsons, Lawson, Corey Hickman of Raleigh and Nashville.
