He was predeceased by: his siblings, Ray Barnes, William Barnes and Hattie Smith; and his stepdaughter Lynn H. Burroughs. He is survived by: his wife Deborah Smith Barnes; his daughters, Anne Boyd of Bridgeton, Susie Ezzell of New Bern and Sandra Braswell of Fuquay-Varina; his grandchildren, Russell Boyd, Addison Braswell, Brycen Braswell, Landon Burroughs and Ethan Burroughs; and his great grandchild Grayson Boyd.
