He is survived by: his children, William Murchison Monroe, Jr. (Helen Thomas) of Queensland, Australia, Christina Monroe Teague (Nelson) of Charlottesville, VA and Melissa Monroe Anderson (Martin) of Greenville; his grandchildren, Merritt Anderson, Anna-Gray Anderson, Will Teague, Caroline Teague, Kate Monroe, Alex Monroe and Rachel Monroe; and his brother John Stewart Monroe, Jr. of Wilmington.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 19th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Wilkerson Funeral Home & Crematory - Greenville (2100 E 5th St, Greenville, NC 27858). A memorial service was held on Friday, September 20th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the St. Thomas Episcopal Church (101 Craven St, Bath, NC 27808).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the East Carolina University School of Nursing in support of the Dr. William M. Monroe Medic to Nurse Fund.
