He was predeceased by: his parents, George Elliott Matthews, Sr. and Loumina Wilma Vereen Matthews. He is survived by: his wife Tamara J. Matthews; his children, George Elliott Matthews, III of Washington, DC and Lisa Michelle Matthews of Greenville, NC; his sister Judy Russell (Harold) of Wilmington, NC; his nephews, Jay and David; his brother Charlie Matthews (Sherrie) of Pickens, SC; and his grandchildren, Christa Matthews of Hampstead, NC and Eric Freeman.
