She was predeceased by: her parent James Riley; her husband Earl W. "Jack" Koontz; her daughter Sandra Kay Koontz; and her siblings, Essie Young, Geneva Bell, Myrtle Briggs, Callie Kluttz, Gurla Watson, Marvin Barger, Buck Barger, Jake Barger and Tom Barger.
She is survived by: her parent Sarah Edwards Barger; her sons, Richard Earl Koontz (Brenda) of Simpsonville, SC and Steven Craige Koontz (Linda) of Summerfield, NC.; her grandchildren, Michael Koontz, Jeffrey Koontz (Amy), Lisa Suprenand (Paul), Julie Cline (Chad), Lauren Sigmon and Greg Sigmon (Kate); her great grandchildren, Emory Koontz, Jack Suprenand, Kai Suprenand and Thomas Hankins; her siblings, Georgia Harris, Lizzie Wagner and Joe Barger (Barbara); and her sisters-in-law, Arlene Hedrick (Ernest) and Carole Burkhart (Gary).
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund or the Trellis Supportive Care of Rowan – 101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, NC 27103.
