He was predeceased by: his parents, Hoyle Hayes Shook and Dulsie Michael Shook; his grandson Christopher Williams; his siblings, Larry Shook, Zeb Shook (Rhonda Shook), Pauline North, Mildred Smith and Audrey Rominger; and his sons-in-law, Dennis Williams and Kenneth Church.
He is survived by: his wife Mable Jones Shook of Banner Elk; his children, Lynn Shook (Barbara) of Cleveland, Glenn Shook of Newland, Ruthetta Williams of Lenoir, Verna Church of Morganton, Phil Shook (Elaine) of Morganton and Felicia Ruppard (Robert) of Banner Elk; and his siblings, Errol Shook (Pat) of Boone, Linda Orr of Charlotte and Joyce Wilson (Ken) of Ashburn. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, forty two great-grandchildren, and 21 great-great-grandchildren as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews.
