He is survived by: his wife Sherry Snavely Abernethy of Banner Elk, NC; his daughters, Laura McNamee of Banner Elk, NC and Elizabeth Anne Abernethy of Calabash, NC; and his siblings, Bruce Abernethy (Ann) of Fort Pierce, FL and Tanya Wilson (Sid) of Williamsburg, VA..
