It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dixie Owen (Balsam Grove, North Carolina), born in Jackson, North Carolina, who passed away on November 25, 2023, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Owen and Emma Owen; her daughter Teresa Breedlove; her stepchildren, Rachel Swangim and Melvin Breedlove; and her siblings, Viola Owen, Virgie Galloway, Thelma Maggard, Wilkie and Curtis Owen.
She is survived by: her children, Chris Breedlove of Candler, Cathy Merrill, Emily Roberts of Marshall and Delores Lane of Brevard, NC; her stepdaughter Wanda Williams of Seneca, SC.; her grandchildren, Peyton Lane of Arden, Ciara Gardner (Mark) of Mill Spring, NC, Sheresa Slagle of Weaverville, NC, Holly Merrill of Mashall, NC., Kamden Whiteside of Hendersonville, NC, Levi Lane of Arden, Aubrey and Urijah Slagle of Weaverville; her siblings, Rosa Bruce of Columbus, NC and Dan Owen (Linda) of Mills River; and her sister-in-law Virginia Owen of Pisgah Forest.
