He was predeceased by: his parents, Horace Baker and Bertie Buchanan Baker; his son Jimmy Baker; and his siblings, Edith Lawson, Lee, Lane and Marvin Baker.

He is survived by: his wife Nelda Bennett Baker; his children, Linda Carpenter of Hawaii, Vicky Greene of Marion, NC, Debra Buchanan (Michael) of Bakersville and Kenneth Baker of Bakersville; his siblings, Alice Duncan of North Wilkesboro, NC and Bill Baker of Huntersville, NC; and his grandchildren, Michael Buchanan, Matthew Buchanan, Nathan Greene, Logan Greene, Brittany Cary, Jason Weston, Karen Melton and Brian Baker.
