She was predeceased by: her parents, Arvil Oxendine and Evelyn Bernice Combs Oxendine; her former husband George Burleson; and her brother Larry Oxendine. She is survived by: her husband Wesley Barnett; her daughter Angie Johnson (Chris) of Bakersville; her stepchildren, Stephen Barnett (Jessica) of Concord and Regina Barnett of Carolina Beach; her granddaughter Allie Johnson; her stepgrandsons, Tyler Whisenant and Robbie Barnett; her siblings, Elatia Oxendine of Maiden, Melba Boone of Elk Park and Bob Oxendine of China Grove; and her sisters-in-law, Flora Ann Boone of Newland, Fort Lauderdale, Margaret Sprinkle of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Patty Oxendine of Elk Park.
