He was predeceased by: his parents, Plato Self and Lora Sparks Self; his wife Inez Dellinger Self; and his brothers, Charles, Bobby, Henry and Walter Self.
He is survived by: his daughter Pam Honeycutt (Dean Honeycutt) of Newland; his grandchildren, Melissa Hughes (Dalton) of Spruce Pine, Tyler Honeycutt of Newland, Elisabeth Honeycutt (Matt Hughes) of Newland, Jacob Honeycutt of Newland and Daniel Cole Honeycutt of Newland; his great grandchild Eliza Hughes of Spruce Pine; and his siblings, Alice Washburn (Jay) of Marion and John Self (Joyce) of Spruce Pine. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
